Returning from De-Tong Ling

After spending time at the De-Tong Ling Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre on Kangaroo Island, I’ve returned to daily life with a heart overflowing with love and deep gratitude.

To simply breathe, sit in stillness and connect with the five elements – to pause, reflect, and come back home to myself – was nothing short of a blessing.

The experience of forming new friendships, sharing laughter and feeling truly seen was soul-nourishing.

I feel deeply replenished – not only by the nourishing food lovingly prepared, but also by the soulful conversations and spiritual connections that shifted something within me. I’ve come back changed in the most beautiful way.

The quiet, the bliss, the reconnection with nature – simply being present – felt like medicine. Yoga, meditation, breathing in the clean island air, an Ayurvedic massage from Lee, and a Shiatsu session with Sam helped ground me in ways I didn’t know I needed.

A true highlight?

Cooking my signature Pumpkin Dahl for our Gala night dinner. Sharing that meal with such a beautiful group of humans was a moment of vulnerability, joy and pure love.

And let’s not forget the laughter — oh the laughter!

Sometimes too much (okay, a lot of the time ), but always healing. Whether it was through deep chats or light-hearted shenanigans, we came together as ourselves — no masks, no filters — just full expression and open hearts (Well… at least I did lol).

If you know me, you know I wear my heart on my sleeve. That’s how I connect best – through vulnerability, humour, and not taking life (or myself!) too seriously. Especially during my cooking class – bloopers and all! Watch the video here.

Let’s just say the curry leaves didn’t quite make it to the pot as planned But as Sam the paramedic said: “How many times have you done this, Anna?” Apparently enough to go viral

In the end, the verdict was clear: Curried Away with Pumpkin Dahl was a hit. And I was quietly proud of myself.

A Gentle Reminder: Self-Care is Not a Luxury

Come Home to Yourself

Sometimes, all it takes is stepping into nature, slowing down, and truly listening to what our mind and body need.

I recently took time to reconnect – with stillness, fresh air, and the kind of peace that only comes when we pause.

It was a powerful reminder that self-care, self-love, and nourishment are not indulgences – they are essentials.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to say yes to yourself, let this be it. Whether it’s a moment of quiet, a walk in nature, or simply giving yourself permission to rest – you deserve it.

Let’s continue choosing peace over pressure, and nourishment over neglect. Not just surviving, but thriving – together.

With love and softness,
Anna
